The Social Services (SASUM) are an organic unit from University of Minho with financial and administrative autonomy, composed by the following offices: Administrator Office; Administrative Council; and Social Council. Social Services activities are regulated by Decreto-Lei nº 129/93, from 22th April 1993.

In the pursuit of its social objectives, Social Services support University of Minho students in domains such as accommodation, scholarships, proctor's office, health and psychological assistance. They are also responsible for sportive and cultural areas, as well as others services.

Social Services functioning also integrate some students allowing them, without affecting their curricular activities, to work and receive some financial return.

SASUM are located in Campus de Gualtar, in Braga city, and in Campus de Azurém, in Guimarães city. Its facilities support over 15.000 students that are now registered in UM.
